So I put a poll on Twitter about whether or not you would like to see a blog post on my experience at the Steps concert , the majority said yes and I am so happy to be writing about this.
Ever since I was a young child I have been going to Steps concerts. Me and one of my sisters were very fortunate to be taken to numerous concerts and one of the bands we were lucky enough to see were Steps. We travelled to various locations around the UK to see them. So once they announced they were going to do an arena tour, of course I had to see them. I was there on release day with my laptop, my phone and my mum doing the same, making sure I got them. We were so happy when we managed to book them.
So when Monday evening came along I was so excited and to make the concert even more epic The Vengaboys were supporting them. I mean if you hear the name Vengaboys and don’t immediately think “Boom, Boom, Boom” Where have you been?!
We had standing tickets so we went 45 minutes early and queued in the front foyer. There is something about concert queues, that makes people extra friendly and you always manage to make friends as everyone eagerly awaits to go in to see the band. When we are all finally in on the arena floor, the atmosphere was buzzing and waiting for the first act to come on.
One of the support acts was a man called Max Restaino who you can find all over social media, his songs were catchy and he had a great energy that the crowd lapped up, he got everyone interacting and dancing. So if you are wanting to listen to an up and coming star, I would definitely recommend checking him out. The next act was Vengaboys, who were amazing! Sang all the classics and brought everyone back to the past, jumping, dancing and singing along. They put on a great show with streamers and confetti being shot into the crowd as well as huge beach balls. The whole arena was electric. I felt like it was the 90s all over again.
Then Steps came on and the whole crowd screamed! They interacted with the crowd, got us to sing along. They sang from their new album Tears On The Dance Floor as well as songs from their older albums. The stage had all different levels, had streamers and fire, they went all out. Their outfits were amazing and so was the choreography. I would say their best show yet. We made friends with people all around with us, sharing experiences and sharing glow sticks, pictures and videos.
During the concert, the screen went dark in-between songs and up came a statement Love Is Love, which the whole crowd cheered and applauded. Also there were dancers dancing with the same sex, it wasn’t made a big deal of, but was still nice to see. It was a safe environment for people to have fun and be themselves.
I’ll be honest, this is the first concert I have been to since the Ariana Grande’s concert I was meant to attend got cancelled due to the horrific events of early this year in Manchester. I was nervous to go especially when there were large crowds as we entered and left the building. But the event was well planned, and once inside the arena I felt safe and I did not let it interfere with me having an amazing night.
Monday night brought back some amazing childhood memories and I am already booking tickets for the concert they are doing next year with having Blue and Aqua supporting them, so I am super excited for that.
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post and looking at the pictures that I took, I got a bit camera happy and took over 450 pictures and I do not regret a thing haha! This was an amazing experience and one that I will always remember.
Leave a comment and let me know if you have ever seen Steps or another band that you love and your best concert experience. I would love to hear your stories.
See you next time
