Highlights of January 2019!

Why does it feel January lasts the longest time, well although I’ve had quite a great month, a few birthdays and even a surprise visit. I have loved this fresh month of a new year, for some reason I have definitely got a different mindset this year. Positivity and productivity are a couple of my focuses this year. I feel this month has been a great start to these. I wanted to reflect on my month and share my highlights with you.

My littlest sister turned 13

My littlest sister turned a teenager on the 4th of this month. I cannot believe how fast she has grown up and is growing so fast. We went shopping and she was able to spend her Christmas and birthday money, there was a lot of shopping happening! We then went for a lovely dinner and has a surprise trip away planned that weekend also.

Surprise trip away

Me and my mum decided to organise a surprise trip away to Essex to not only surprise my littlest sister but to surprise my little brother, his wife, my niece and nephew. Everyone was so surprised! There were a lot of tears! We got to spend some quality time together and made some amazing memories.

Spice Girl tribute band concert

I went with my mum, my littlest sister and my friend. It was such a lovely evening. We laughed, sang, danced and I re-lived some childhood music.

Finally…..my second MRI

This seems like it would be a very weird thing to have as a positive highlight. However, having had my accident at work nearly 2 years ago, I am still needing treatment, which then has put my compensation settlement on hold also. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end.

Dinner and cocktails with a friend

My friend and I went to ASK for dinner. It was sooooo yummy! We then went for a couple of cocktails. On a school night too, oops! It was lovely to catch up after all the Christmas rush was over and plan my birthday celebrations next month.

This month I have spent a lot of time working and studying. It has worked out well as I have such a busy month next month, so I want to try and get as much studying done as I can.

What is one highlight from this month for you? I’d love to hear in the comments.

  1. Love this post!! My highlight would be going to Wagamamas for the first time and having a vegan meal there. I’m doing Veganuary and it’s the first place I’ve been to that hasn’t acted like it’s a hassle. It was soo delicious too.

      1. I definitely noticed a change in my mental health and so did my boyfriend, he said I’ve been much happier since going vegan. If you try change one meal a week and then gradually increase it and see how you feel. It doesn’t have to be instant, take your time and you’ll enjoy the journey of it. x

  2. It sounds like you have had a great month Lauren! Oh my goodness, a Spice Girls tribute concert sounds like so much fun! I was such a fan of the Spice Girls when I was younger, I can probably remember all the lyrics still, ha ha! Dinner and cocktails with a friend sounds so lovely! I’m glad you had a nice time 🙂 That’s great news about your MRI Scan, hopefully everything works out well with that. Thank you for sharing, hope you have an awesome February! ❤ xxx

    1. Thank you so much, I am off for it today, so fingers crossed 🤞🏻. I am in a lot of pain today unfortunately 😕. Yeah it was a great night, I definitely remembered the lyrics!! 😂🙈. Thank you for reading and commenting! I hope you’ve had a fabulous January ❤️xxxx

  3. Sounds like you’ve had a great January! It’s always bittersweet when your younger siblings grow up, we want them to stay young for as long as possible, don’t we? My youngest sister is turning sixteen this year and I can’t quite believe it because it feels like she’s only just been born! I hate to see her all grown up and wearing makeup (better than me) and talking about boys, haha.

    1. I know, it goes so fast and you want them to grow up so you can do different things with them, but you loved it when they were little too 🙈. Yes, my little sister is experimenting with make up too, oh the boys thing! I do not like haha 😂xxx

  4. Sounds like a great month, especially your chance to surprise your family members and spend some quality time with them! I can only imagine how much fun you had. I live a 6-7 hour drive from most of my family and I LOVE making the trip up!

  7. Sounds like you’ve had a great start to 2019 and it was such a positive and uplifting one too! Really enjoyed reading this and hearing about your highlights. Some positives of my January were that I turned 22, I’m making more time for self care and also maintaining my job well (:

  8. January always seems to drag out day-to-day but when I look back now I honestly cant believe its been a whole month! Payday seemed like it was taking an age to come around but it’s almost here, out of nowhere? Anyway, it sounds like you’ve had a great month of highlights!

  9. You’ve managed to pack quite a lot into January! I love a good tribute band! The Spice Girls remind me of growing up – signing in the mirror with a hairbrush, girl power and terrible dancing haha. xxx
