Using a planner is a great tool to help you become more organised and productive with your time. It is something that you can refer to and help you to balance your life.

There are so many forms of planners, a variety of paper based planners as well as digital planners. I prefer to use paper planners as I enjoy buying pretty stationery and putting pen to paper. But it is important that you find a form of planner that works best for you and your lifestyle.

When I am planning my week and trying to organise my time I have essentials that help me plan well and plan effectively.

Here are 5 planner essentials that help me to be a more organised person:

1. A Good Planner

Being a big stationery lover I have tried many different planners such as: Happy Planner, BusyB planners, Archer and Olive bullet journals, Stationery Island bullet journal and the Leuchtturm1917 bullet journal planners. Some I find work for me and others didn’t have the features I needed.

There are so many planners on the market with a range of features in different sizes to fit all preferences. I am currently using a Happy Planner which I am enjoying especially when I get to be creative with my planner spreads.

2. A Good Pen

I have so many different styles of pens and love to use fine-liners in my planner. I think it makes you writing look clean and clearer. Also helps to write smaller if I have so many tasks and appointments to put in each week. I can also colour code with different pens to help keep my planner organised and you can track your activities. When I use different coloured fine-liners they brighten up my planner pages.

Here are 4 benefits you will see from writing down your plans:

  • Writing helps you remember more.
  • Crossing off tasks and appointments can be satisfying and motivating
  • There are no distractions
  • It can help to reduce stress and anxiety

3. Stickers

There are so many planner stickers available on places like Etsy. Using planner stickers can work well especially if you prefer not to write. There are stickers for every activity. It can make your planner more colourful also. For me planning my week out being creative with different coloured pens and stickers is one of my self-care activities.

4. Washi Tape

I love washi tape, it is not only super helpful but it makes my planner look so pretty. I love to create different themes and designs with the variety of washi tapes that I have. I enjoy shopping for washi tape, as you can never have enough right?

5. To-Do List Pad

As well as having my planner I like to use a to-do list pad to help keep a list of all my weekly tasks, this can be easier when I am planning my week as I can prioritise tasks and space them out over the week so I do not get too overwhelmed. To-do lists are so beneficial, they can promote organisation, productivity, motivate you when checking off tasks and help improve your time management.

There are so many benefits of using a planner in your life. Here are 10 reasons why you should start using a planner:

  1. It improves your time management
  2. It can improve your productivity
  3. You are able to view all your priorities in one place

  5. Ah, this is gorgeous, Lauren, I love how colourful your planner is! My BuJo started out life with lots of colours but sadly it’s just a schedule of dates and to do’s now – black marker and pencil so I can move things about, haha. This is so inspiring, I must get back into using colours, it’s far more appealing 🙂 Lovely post and pics xx

  6. Those pastel fineliners though 👀😍 Your planner looks lovely babe, I tried starting a bujo a couple of years back and couldn’t keep up with it so stopped. Wish I was more creative lol xx

      1. I think my main problem with it was the fact that I HAD to have it perfect 🤭😂 and that’s why I found myself spending so much time on it xx

      2. Definitely check out bujo box, it is great to be able to get started. Makes it so easy! Yeah I would allocate time to plan the month’s spreads so I don’t have to do it everyday xx

  7. I like Washi tape and stickers. I like to decorate my blog planner and my spiral for my notes. I use markers, and colored pens to doodle on my spiral too.

  8. Great post – I’m definitely a fan of decorating my planner with stickers. I’ll also use stamps and highlighter pens too so I can emphasise certain points.
