Today is National Writing Day! Happy Writing Day to you all! Writing has always been a creative outlet for me, whether that was writing in a diary, writing letters or writing stories. As I got older, whenever I struggled with my feelings or my anxiety I would take to paper and write everything down in my journal, it is so therapeutic. I thought in honour of this day I would share with you 5 reasons why I love writing.
Here are 5 reasons why I love writing:
1. I can reflect on my thoughts and feelings
Through journaling I am able to reflect on my day, my thoughts and my feelings. It is so therapeutic to get it all written down on paper. I have enjoyed keeping diaries since I was young. It is great to have those memories to look back and reminisce on the great times and see how far you have come. When I am struggling with anxiety I find it helpful to write all my feelings down.
2. It gives me a great excuse to buy pretty stationery
I love making lists, journaling and writing blog posts. I love the art of putting pen to paper and writing as well as using technology. So that means I need to buy lots of cute notebooks and pens, right?
3. It provides a creative outlet for me
Writing on my blog or journaling gives me an outlet for my creativity. It allows me to experiment with my writing and develop my writing style. It allows me to share my thoughts and experiences on my little corner of the internet. I absolutely love blogging, its been the best creative thing I have designed and shared. It is not just about blogging you can also write in journals or write short stories that will provide you a creative outlet. If you are writing stories but do not have time or would like the help of editors you should reach out to short story editing services who can check the text and grammar and offer thoughtful suggestions to help you improve your story.
4. I can help or support others through my writing
I love helping and supporting other people. Whether that’s sharing my experience or even some blogging tips I have found useful. I think its important in this world to put out positivity and support. I like to think I am making a difference even if it just for one person. Just imagine if everyone did a little more to help others the world would be a much more positive place. Seeing how many blog niches there are and so many talented writers, I wish I had known before for example when I was first diagnosed with anxiety, I felt alone and so “not normal” which is definitely not the case. There is so much more support for those people, so just know your writing matters and you are making an impact.
5. I get to be a part of an awesome community
Setting up my blog and writing has allowed me to connect with so many bloggers and creative people. I have made some amazing friends, people who consistently support me and I am so grateful for them. If you are thinking about starting a blog but worried, don’t be the community will support you.
I also love the journaling community that is on Instagram, I enjoy sharing journaling posts, planner posts and interacting with others who enjoy journaling. If you love journaling, definitely get connected in the community on Instagram.
To celebrate day, what is one reason you love writing? I’d love to hear in the comments.
This is such a lush post!

Hehe, we writers love pretty stationary! I agree that writing is a wonderful way to explore the emotions of the day and sort them all out. I think that is my favorite part of writing, besides enjoying the community!
Thats so true! Thank you for reading and commenting xx
A pleasure!
I agree with all of these! It’s such a relaxing thing to do with an endless supply of things to write about or ways to approach it. I love writing as a way to escape; with blogging, I love to share things with others and interact, then with my novel I love creating a new world and its characters!x

Yes to all of these points, but I go overboard with stationary because my room is over flowing with notebooks and novelty pens!

i’m late to the party, but hey, better late than never? those are great reasons, i love how passionate you are about journalling! i’ve always been inconsistent when it comes to journaling/keeping a diary, but your posts make me want to do it more often! i tend to gravitate towards writing fiction stuff, and it’s definitely wanting to tell a story that keeps me writing!
I have been a bit rubbish with it lately, but I want to do some more. That’s a great reason to write. Thank you for reading and commenting!
I 100% agree with everything here, Lauren! Writing is such a great way to express thoughts and feelings, it definitely feels therapeutic to me too. I’m very similar, and have kept diaries on and off since I was young, it is such a good way to put things into perspective and help with anxiety. Ha ha, yess and it’s the perfect excuse to buy more pretty stationery, I love it! 😀 Aww, thank you so much for the special mention, that is super sweet of you! 🙂 I’m so glad to have found you through blogging and am always so grateful for your support and encouragement too!
