Crayola SuperTips Review & Swatch

Definitely in the last year I have heard so much about Crayola SuperTips to rival the other pens on the market for brush and calligraphy lettering. I have seen so many youtube videos about using these pens in bullet journal spreads.

At this time of year there is so many stationery deals ready for the back to school rush. So when I saw a 50 pack of Crayola SuperTips half price, at Β£5 what a bargain! I thought I would see if they were worth the hype.

I brought this 50 pack and the range of shades are so good, perfect for getting creative. I swatted all of the colours, so you can see how they appear on the page.

I swatched all 50 shades in my Say Nice Things Journal. The colours are so vibrant and are definitely true to the packaging which sometimes isn’t always the case. They are easy and light weight to use. The bleeding and ghosting is practically non-existent. This is so good as it can be so frustrating when the ghosting is prominent on the following page.

I also swatched some colours in my Leuchtturm1917 bullet journal to see how visible the ghosting is.

As you can see it had bled through more than my other notebook. I am definitely looking into other bullet journals with a higher paper gsm to stop the bleeding and ghosting.

I am still so new to the whole concept of brush lettering and calligraphy, I am still practising and in the beginner stages ha ha!

These pens make it easy to practise my lettering. Using the side of the pen for larger downward strokes and the tip of the pen for the upward thinner strokes.

I am looking forward to using all these colours in my weekly bullet journal spreads. If you are looking for pens to help you get started in calligraphy or brush lettering these are the inexpensive option.

Have you tried the Crayola SuperTips before? What are your favourite pens to use for calligraphy or in your notebook? I’d love to hear in the comments.

  1. Love Crayola supertips! Used to bring them to school alongside their crayons πŸ˜‚ I think I’ll get a new pack before I start my bullet journal now that I’ve read this. Great post! πŸ’–

  2. I’ve never used these Crayola markers before but I might have to try them out! Normally, I’ve always stuck to sharpies, but these look very pretty. Thanks for sharing this post! πŸ™‚

  3. I haven’t heard of Crayola in forever!! It is so cool that they’re getting into the calligraphy space. Wow, for the price you paid, you got such a great deal. I love how these pens write – they look really bold and good quality. Thanks for sharing this!

  4. I’ve used these markers to color adult coloring cards which worked really well because the cards were made of this cardstock paper. The markers didn’t bleed through it at all. Also, I found the best place to buy large bundles of markers by Crayola – Costco (for those who live in the US and Canada).

  5. Thank you so much for reviewing these! I saw these in a shop when getting the wee ones school stuff and thought they would be good for my journaling, didn’t want to risk it but I think I’ll go back and pick them up. The colours are so pretty, I want my hands on the red and yellow pens so much Haha always my favourite to colour with.

  9. Ahh this is such a satisfying post! The colours look really great, I wish I was in to bullet journalling enough to do it regularly because every time I see one I am so inspired! x

  10. I haven’t used Crayola since I was in school, but always remember how good they were. I’m impressed by the lack of bleeding and ghosting with these! I’ve also been practicing my calligraphy lately, and have a bujo I’m starting in Sept. 😊

  11. Oooh those colours do look good! I’ve mostly been experimenting with brush pens so far but I did also enjoy borrowing my kids’ fat crayola markers at the beginning…So maybe these are a cost effective way to expand my collection (storage though πŸ€”)
