BuddyBox Review From The Blurt Foundation

Mental health is just as important as physical health and it is important to spread that message. Since I was diagnosed with anxiety, society has come a long way with help and organisations providing support. There is still progress to be made, which is why I like to use my platform to help create awareness. When I realised it was Mental Health Awareness Day on 10th of this month, I reached out to Blurt to see if they wanted to collaborate this month and pleased they agreed. They sent me a BuddyBox to review and share with you all.

Blurt is a social enterprise dedicated to helping those affected by depression. They are dedicated to making positive change in the world. All of their profits are put back into the community they have chosen to support, people who are affected by depression.

“Increasing awareness and understanding of depression”

Blurt offer a BuddyBox subscription service or you can purchase a boxes as a one off payment. Each BuddyBox contains at least 5 quality products that are hand-picked to nourish, inspire and encourage self-care. The gifts are intended to make you feel pampered, relaxed and to de-stress. These boxes are great as a gift for a loved one, or as a treat for yourself. What a great way to take some time out for self care?

This print helps you take a moment to ground yourself. The steps on this print have helped me previously when I felt a panic attack starting, it really helped me focus my mind elsewhere. I can pin this print up to remind myself. I love the colours and design of this print.

This print is so cute, I love rainbows. The lettering is so beautiful. Had a lovely note on the back from the lovely team at Blurt. I love that I can use it as a print in a flat-lay photograph or pin it up. I love keeping notes/messages from brands that I have worked with.

An Arousal Curve is about your energetic state and it fluctuates as you go about your life. You can use your senses to increase or lower your arousal in order to be in that “just-right” state. In this BuddyBox it comes with a template to make your own arousal curve. Inside your Sensory Self-care Tool Kit workbook, it explains what each colour means. You should check in regularly with your curve, as it allows you to be become more in-tune with what your body needs.

The Sensory Self Care Toolkit workbook has so many helpful activities to remind you about self care and to get in touch with your senses. I love how colourful this book is, the colours make the workbook fun and I love the rainbows doodles which also appear in this workbook. Once the workbook is complete you have these strategies you have planned, to look back on and to remind you.

I love stationery, stickers and fun creative things, so I was so happy to see this box came with a Visual Self Care sticker book. There are so many cute stickers, little slogans and positive affirmations that I can use in my notebook or my journal. They are well designed and I cannot wait to start using them.

The Zine mini magazine talks about self care anchors and gives you tips on how you can make time for self care. Some of these tips I use to make sure I am showing myself self care and self love.

I had never heard of the brand Thought before, but I love the message on the label of these socks. “These socks make big steps towards sustainability thanks to their plant-friendly fabric that keeps toes comfy and cosy too”. I love learning about sustainable brands, as now more than ever I more aware of my carbon footprint on this world. I am always looking for changes I can make. I love the cute weather pattern and it is a beautiful teal autumnal colour too. Having nice cosy socks and pjs helps make me feel relaxed.

How awesome is the Mohdoh? It is mouldable aromatherapy. It is therapeutic dough that is infused with essentials oils. The oils that are used in this dough are eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender and hyssop. This is perfect for when you are suffering with symptoms of a cold or the flu, which I am still fighting off at the moment so it has been really helpful. The dough was chosen to be light blue as it promotes calmness, peace and has soothing properties. Playing with the dough reminds me of playing with play-doh as a kid. This dough smells incredible too. When I am anxious, I have so much anxious energy so moulding this dough keeping my hands busy, will help me relax and focus my mind.

Self-care for me is definitely more of a priority during the autumnal and winter months. Being cosy and relaxed inside and enjoying warmer drinks. I like to go all out on a hot chocolate the whipped cream, marshmallows and chocolate powder sprinkled on top. So when I saw this hot chocolate spoon I was excited. I have seen these advertised before and I am looking forward to trying this. FairTrade, handmade organic dark chocolate, how delicious does that sound? Yum!

What an amazing tool that can make an excellent gift for a loved one who needs some love or a treat for yourself. They are also a great way to spread love and support. You can find Blurt on their website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. A big thank you to everyone at Blurt for sending me this BuddyBox.

  1. This box sounds great! I love the concept and the idea behind it. I would definitely obsess over the mohdoh! I always loved playdoh as a kid and it’s such a fun little sensory toy!

  2. Love the opening grounding card. That is something I need to start practicing! Since I do not have any mohdoh, I often squeeze and press at a ball of beeswax. After a while, it gets warm and pliable and it smells nice. So relaxing! 🙂

  3. I haven’t heard of Blurt before but oh my, what a lovely subscription box. I love the Arousal Curve notebook, that’s such a good idea and method to be able to chart how you respond to triggers. And the aromatherapy dough looks amazing, I bet that’s so helpful, both in tactile and aroma terms. Again, such a brilliant idea. I know a few friends who would really appreciate this so thank you for introducing me to Blurt, Lauren. This is a wonderful post and pictures! Lisa xx
