I have been blogging for just over 2 years and I have learned so much about blogging but also about myself. When I first started I didn’t really know very much and just did as much research as I could. In keeping with helpful blogging posts this month, I am going to share some tips that I have found the most effective for growing my blog.
If you are reading this post and thinking about starting a blog. Just start! It took me a year to get my blog started, as I wanted everything to be perfect with a great logo or theme. However, you can update and change these things at anytime. Don’t waste time!
Although this isn’t a must, I would recommend if you don’t already have a twitter account, to set one up. It is a great platform to be able to share your writing and reaching a bigger audience. You can build a community of bloggers who can support you and your writing. There are so many comment swap threads where you can share your latest post and get feedback. Twitter is where most of my blog traffic comes from.
Create a blog schedule
Using a schedule helps to keep you organised. By setting specific days, times and how many posts you want to go live per week allows you to post consistently and build a community of supportive readers. Being consistent with my blogging schedule has had a huge improvement in my engagement and my views. It has also taken off so much pressure and I have been scheduling posts ahead of time and really enjoying myself.
Build a community
Meeting bloggers on social media and making friends helps to build an engaging community. You can learn from and be inspired by one another. Through the blogging community I have met some incredible talented people who support my blog and engage on my posts. Reach out follow others and engage on tweets and build friendships with others that have similar interests.
Write content that you enjoy
When you write about a subject you are passion about, it shines through in your writing and makes it enjoyable to read. It is okay to research and write content that is popular too, but don’t loose sight of the enjoyment it brings you.
Share your content on social media
Sharing your latest posts on social platforms allows you to reach a bigger audience, engage with other bloggers and receive positive feedback or criticism. It also gives you the opportunity to find others who relate to what you are writing about.
What tips would you give to new bloggers? Or what advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting a blog? I’d love to hear in the comments.
