5 Habits of Successful Bloggers

Success can mean and look different to everyone. Every blogger will have different goals and intentions with their blog. Being a full-time blogger is a lot of bloggers ultimate goal. Doing what you love as a career is just the goal, right? Full-time bloggers will tell you blogging full-time is hard work and not for the faint-hearted. 

For the majority of bloggers, developing and growing their blog is the goal for them. Part of being successful is about the mindset, believing you are successful means you are half way there. There are habits that if you implement can help your blog become more successful and they are a great place to start.

1. Be consistent

Posting new content consistently is a must! Having a blogging schedule and posting on the same day and time so your audience knows what to expect. It will not only build up your audiences’ expectations, but they will start to trust in your brand. This will also help you plan your content ahead of time and boost your DA score.

2. Engage with your audience

To have a successful blog you need an audience that visits and reads your blog content. Knowing your audience is so vital in your blog growing so you need to know who you are writing your posts for and whether they are going to be helpful and valuable to them. Engagement is key! Replying to comments, returning comments and sharing content that your audience has asked for. Engagement on all your social media platforms is also important, building those rapports will then mean they are more likely to support your blog. Who wants to support a blogger who ignores their audience?

3. Treat your blog like a business

Making the mindset change from just being a blogger to a business owner can be daunting but as soon as you make that shift in mindset you will start to treat your blog differently. The more seriously you take your blog the more effort you are going to put into it. When you start to put more of that effort into your blog, you are going to make sure you are putting more value into every post you share. You should always keep in mind when you are sharing on social media and your blog that you are representing yourself and your brand. Of course you can show your personality and share your views but keep a degree of professionalism.

4. Be patient

Success in any aspect of life does not come overnight, if you speak to full-time bloggers it has taken years to be in the position to be able to have that as their main source of income. Just keep in mind when you do not see results straight away, it takes time! You want to have the patience to create quality content that is going to appeal to your audience.

5. Be persistent

Like being consistent, you need to keep persevering with building all aspects of your blog. Do not give up, bloggers who are working full-time will have all stayed persistent even when they did not see the results straight away. Blogging is not as easy as others may believe it is, it takes a lot of hard work so do not worry when you don’t see results straight away.

    I love this post! In fact I’m loving your blog as a whole atm! These tips are awesome and I will remember these for the rest of my blogging career. I think my favourite tip is to have fun with it because when you stop having fun, people can tell. It shows in your blog posts! Atm I’m barely getting any views or visitors but I am having SOO much fun blogging so to me that’s all that counts!

      Definitely having fun and enjoying it is so important. As soon as it becomes a chore or something you put off, you need to take a break! When I first started I had next to know views, but I had fun! I still have fun, but I definitely take it more seriously now. Thank you for your kind comments about my blog, that means a lot!     These are great tips! One of my goals for 2020 was to be more consistent with my blogging. Throughout last year, I found myself stopping and starting a lot which made my blog a little bit everywhere. I need to start treating my blog more like a business though ♡

      I was so inconsistent until September last year, I had a regular blog schedule and content planned ahead of time and it has changed everything! Definitely do! You have a great blog, it is a business 😉

    If you’re not a hobby blogger then treating your blog as a business or as another client is key. No matter what anyone else says (family included), if your blog pays you money or payment in kind (gifted products) it’s a business and you have to keep that mindset. Other than that, yes, patience, self-belief and keep showing up! Fab tips, Lauren, so helpful xxx

    I’d love to make my blog successful and make it a full time job but it’s very hard to get there. These tips are great for keeping your feet on the ground but really showing the reality of what is needed to succeed x x

    Consistency is definitely important when it comes to blogging. My number one tip when it comes to blogging would have to be doing what you interested in. If your not interested in what your writing then your readers will see it in your work.

    Consistency is so key to being a successful blogger. I notice that when my blogging slacks at times throughout the year, then my views and engagement decrease. This is also reflected on social media engagement and exposure too when I spend too little time on these platforms. You’re so right on with this post! xxx

    I love these tips! I agree that consistency is key, if you don’t post for a while you will begin to lose readers it is frustrating when you check a blog every few days/weekly and finding no new content. Also, treating your blog like a business is also a great way to succeed when posting on social media through my blog account I am always aware that I am representing my brand.

    Excellent overview of what it takes to be a good and successful Blogger! Now you have me reassessing my own mission or at least wanting to make some appropriate adjustments and do a better job at being not just a good Blogger but a proper one; sort of like the difference of just talking versus talking grammatically correct.     I really like that you’ve included in this post how success is defined by each individual person! It’s so important to remember that and try not to focus on anyone elses expectations or compare yourself as that will only stall you in the long run. I do struggle sometimes to remember that everything I put out there is a reflection of my brand, I’ve definitely gone back and deleted some sweary tweets after re-thinking them hahaha. Authenticity is key but so is professionalism!

    I 100% agree that these are all qualities/habits that a blogger should have, or aim to have, if they want to be successful. It definitely takes all of these combined to be successful thats for sure, I feel like they are all as important as each other. That being said I do believe that engagement with your audience is of utmost importance if you want to succeed even a fraction in blogging, it literally builds the foundation of your blog as without an audience what’s even the point??
