Thursday 5th March is World Book Day. World Book Day is a registered charity on a mission to give every child and young person a book of their own. It is a celebration of writers, illustrators, books and the choice to read. This year being the 23rd year it has been running.
I reached out on Twitter to team up with Viking. The idea was to combine reading books and stationery and then get crafting! They sent me a box of goodies to craft with in celebration of this day! Stationery and craft mail are some of my favourite kinds of mail. I was gifted book pages, coloured card, stamps and ink, stamp cutters and a book with different craft ideas. Some easy and some more intricate designs.
I am going to share with you what I crafted with these book pages.
I first decided to get creative in my bullet journal. I ripped the pages and glued them in. I used the stamper set, I don’t get to use a stamps very much. I loved how the letters looked on the page. I thought the quote was very fitting for World Book Day.
I looked through the art book and found an idea to use pages of books for greeting cards.
I love making cards, as a family we always used to make cards for the rest of the family. So this brought back a lot of fond memories.
Being creative like this is a great way to reuse books you no longer want to read. You can also create characters with your children from their favourite books. The possibilities are endless.
I am looking forward to being creative with more book pages in the future. What a great way to celebrate World Book Day. You can check out the hashtag #VikingWorldBookDay and see what others have created and share your own creativity.
Have a great World Book Day! Enjoy your books whether you are reading them or crafting with them.
Would you ever use book pages in your crafts? I’d love to hear in the comments.
Great spread! Love the brown washi!
I used to love world book day at school as I adored reading, I don’t read as much now that I’m older which is sad. Love what you’ve done here!

journal pages! 💗 Viking sent me a lovely box of goodies too and I’ve loved seeing what everyone’s been creating. For my crafts I created characters from some of my favourite books.

These are such creative ideas, Lauren! I’ve never knew you could just get book pages, that is such a cool arts and crafts supply and looks really effective too! The stamps are awesome as well, perfect for using in bullet journals for quotes and headings. I’ve never heard much about book art before, but this post has really inspired me to check it out. Thanks for sharing your creations, such a fun post! <3 xxx

This is such a great idea. I used books as table decorations one year, and asked people to write me a note. It was a great reuse of old second hand books.
That’s a great idea! Thank you for reading and commenting?

Stamps were one of my favourite things as a child, looks like so much fun!

This is all so cute. The stamps really set a special tone, don’t they? Like a throw back feel to them. I love the way they look with the book page background. That would make a great piece of decor in a home library.
I love them! Thank you! Can you link your blog so I can have a read
Lovely post! I’ve not done any crafting with books before, but I love to see how I can reuse and recycle in my crafting, a couple of years ago I made a ballet tutu from folded sheet music 🎶 I just realised yesterday that Book Day is on Thursday, I don’t know why but I was thinking it was on the 20-something *oops* 🙈

As always, I am so astounded by your creative eye with bullet journal designs. The way your incorporated these book pages into a creative design like this is so beautiful. Have you ever considered creating/designing journals/planners as a side business?
Also, had no clue it was National Book Day!! Will have to share with some of my bibliophile friends! 🙂
Great idea for using what you received 🙂

Thank you!
What a cool collection of craft supplies! I love the alphabet stamps, we did our table plan at our wedding with those. I really love how you’ve used them with the book pages, it’s so effective and looks amazing! Also your calligraphy is so beautiful! I’d love to be able to write like that. Sadly I’m absolutely useless at crafts, so I’ll just have to admire your efforts!

Aww that’s cool. Thank you for reading and commenting Sophie x
I used to do crafty things when my kids were smaller. But it used to be proper use of my brain to make something unique. But I love the way you transformed with journal. Its beautiful and so unique. 🙂
