Positive habits to me are habits you are practising that have a valuable affect on your physical or mental health. You can have positive and toxic habits that can impact your life and help boost or stop you from succeeding. You can track positive habits with habit trackers to help hold you accountable in achieving them. In order for your to be successful and confident you must work through toxic mindsets and start to implement more positive habits and mindsets.
Removing the toxic habits can help get rid of the negative energy and boost your confidence and self-esteem. Do you know that it is not just about positive habits that can help change your life and mental health, you can also use supplements to help bring calmness and reduce stress. CBD has so many well documented benefits (read more on Royal CBD about this) regarding lifting your mood and helping to make you feel less anxious. I am consciously working on these areas to help change my life. Do you implement positive habits in your life?
I am sharing 10 positive habits you should be practising now to help bring a positive mindset and change your life.
1. Show gratitude
Practising showing gratitude daily can dramatically improve your life. You can use a gratitude journal or even just voice your appreciations. It helps you to focus on what you have in your life, boost your mental health and brings positivity into your life, which can help alter your negative mindset.

2. Create a morning routine
Having an effective morning routine can help boost your productivity. It gives your day more structure and allows you to manage stress levels. When you are consistently going to sleep and waking up at the same time you have better quality sleep but it can also improve your physical and mental health. Waking up and knowing what tasks you need to complete and so have organisation can help you work smarter and be more successful.
3. Set 3 daily priority tasks
It is proven that having 3 top priority tasks a day can help you be the most productive with your time. Having a huge list of tasks can often be overwhelming and often mean you procrastinate rather than ticking things of that list. Planning like this can help you stay seriously organised in your home and work life prioritising tasks with the closest deadline. Often when you have achieved these 3 tasks you are in that mindset where you are motivated to achieve more, but it also means if you are not you have still had a productive day and feel like you have accomplished something.
4. Be present
If 2020 has taught us anything it is that being present in the moment is so important. Put down your phone and switch off from work and spend some quality time with the people you are with. Living in the moment can bring positivity and allows you time away from your thoughts and anxieties. Being present allows you to collect and treasure those precious memories. Living your life this way can boost your mental health and your self-esteem. Having time away from screens is always a positive activity.
5. Show kindness
Being kind is free and spreading kindness can not only make others feel good but can make yourself feel better too. Kind acts can strengthen relationships which can help improve your mood, your self-esteem and research has shown it can even help to lower blood pressure.

6. Exercise
This by no means is me saying you have to go to the gym everyday of the week. There are so many forms of exercises that can suit everyone. Exercise can be taking a short walk, doing the housework, yoga or even a workout video. These simple steps can help you improve your physical health, mental health and your sleeping patterns. This part of self-care is vital and incorporating exercise just once a week can be a huge positive change to your life releasing those endorphins to make you feel good.
7. Prepare for success the night before
Ensuring you have your outfit ready or your work ready for the following day can help you feel more organised and ready for your day ahead. Having a planned morning can help you be productive. This means you are less stressed and lowers your blood pressure. This simple habit helps you set your intentions for the day.
8. Drink more water
This is a habit I really struggled with at first, but using a habit tracker has really held me accountable. Drinking more water can help improve your skin health, maintains blood pressure, improves your performance and even helps you to regulate your body temperature. Your body with more water feels more energised and you will have more motivation to accomplish your goals.
9. Keep your space tidy
The saying tidy space tidy mind is so true! Having a tidy and organised home or workspace helps you to be more organised in all areas of your life. Having a clear space allows you to be able to worker complete tasks without distractions. Your productivity levels will soar.

10. Look after yourself
Making yourself a priority is vital in creating a positive and healthy life for yourself. Self-care is helpful in boosting your mental health and physical health. You only have one life and taking care of others is great but you need to remember to look after yourself as well. This doesn’t mean a face mask everyday or a pamper evening every other night, just set aside some time each week to do something that makes you happy, make sure you are eating well and getting enough sleep. Deciding to put yourself first is a big step to changing your mindset and your life.
Do you practise say of these positive habits? I’d love to hear in the comments.

Really great post! I definitely need to get on some of these, especially the gratitude one, as I’ve seen so many people do this as well and say that they’re much happier because of it, so I’m 100% going to try that! Also, totally agree on the tidy space to feel more motivated, there’s nothing worse than working around mess!
Hope your well!

I like the idea of setting only 3 tasks every day. I have a huge to-do list for my blog and I do get overwhelmed working on too many things at once. Owning a site is like owning a house. There’s always something to fix.
Thank you for reading and commenting. I am glad you found it useful.
I love this Lauren! Honestly changing my Morning routine has been life changing! I am so much more focused now I have time in the morning. Plus exercising first thing has really given me a boost.

I love this blog and thank you for sharing! Gratitude is so so important as it helps you reframe your thoughts and have a more positive mindset, especially when things become tough! Also kindness to others and being kind to yourself is easy yet so important. Kindness to others can be simple as sending them a text message in the morning asking how they are!
I am also going to steal your idea of having 3 daily priority tasks, it is a really really good habit and one I don’t do , but I see how it can benefit me a lot!

Yes to all of these points, Lauren, except for exercise as I am super lazy, haha. Seriously though, I think we’re probably all guilty of not paying enough attention to positive habits and it’s high time we did. Now more so than ever. Thank you for the reminder 🙂 x
This post is more accountability for me also, as sometimes I am guilty of not looking after myself as well as I should. Thank you for reading and commenting Lisa x

Really helpful tips. I know I didn’t drink enough water (aka didn’t drink any) for the longest time and even something as simple as making sure I drank enough water each day made such a huge difference. A morning routine is something I am working on. I’ve also started working on a gratitude journal and it’s a nice way to highlight the good of every day.
I was rubbish with water intake and I am trying to be better at it. Thank you for sharing your experience, reading and commenting.
I try to practice all of these, so it’s encouraging to see them in this post. It means I’m creating a positive environment for myself as much as I can! I’m glad you wrote this up! Such good reminders.
That’s great you practise all of these! Thank you for sharing and commenting.
Having a tidy space is so important to me and gives me a feeling of freedom and a place to create in harmony with all around me. I also love having my clothes ready the night before; makes it so easy to get up in the morning and get straight into being productive. 🙂

I love these tips Lauren. Taking care of yourself is a must. I try to go earlier to bed, cut down sugar, alcohol and junk food, go for a little walk every day and stop engaging in toxic conversations.
Sounds like you are taking great steps to look after yourself.
I agree and use quite a few of these points in my life already and it does make a huge difference! I love having my three goals daily, and practicing gratitude. Drinking water is something I need to bring more into my life, I love drinking it but when I am working I never drink enough! Great post xx
Thank you for reading and commenting. Xx
These are great tips, Lauren. Over lockdown, I tried harder to get a routine going. Just getting up early each day is really such a simple thing that has improved my mental health. Will definitely start thinking about planning my next day the evening before in future!
I hope it helps. Thank you for reading and commenting.
Yes, yes, yes to all these things! It’s so important to be kind but I also agree about being present more, it’s something I’ve worked on more this year xx

I agree with all of these! I usually plan my day the night before. I am also a fan of gratitude journalling! xx
That’s great! Thank you for reading and commenting.
In the past, I have always struggled with drinking enough water. I knew that I needed to drink more, but I couldn’t bring myself to factor it into my daily routine. The game-changer came when I purchased my first Brita water bottle. I prefer the taste of filtered water, and having the filter built into the bottle meant that I could have filtered water anywhere I went. I have since had to replace the bottle (daily use means more wear and tear on the bottle) but I purchased another Brita so that I could keep up this new positive habit.
That sounds like a great product!! I prefer filtered water too. We have one built into our fridge. Thank you for reading and commenting.
I love these tips. These are great to use everyday and I agree that we forget what is important in life.
Love that all of these little cost-free habits can make a huge difference with our life. So important to be present. People can wait via SMS when you’re spending physical time with others. I find drinking more water being helpful!! Thanks for sharing these thoughts!

Such a lovely list! I think setting 3 daily goals is such a fab idea as sometimes my to-do list can be quite overwhelming!
Lovely post. I try to do all items from the list of 10. I practice yoga which easily knocks off 6 or 7 from the list. Being positive right now is more important than ever. Thanks for sharing,
This was a really great post! I enjoy reading blogs like this and to be honest, it’s because I am currently changing my ways to this kind of habit forming life. These are all amazing tips and I have been practicing most of these with the exception of maybe 2. You mentioned a habit tracker, I didnt even know there was such a thing, but now looking into it. This well certainly help me stay consistent.
Amazing post! Thank you for sharing this! I will definitely be doing these tasks especially the water one because I need to drink more!
Thanks for sharing, some of these are great 🙂
Thanks for sharing this great list, Lauren! I definitely need to set 3 daily priority tasks and to drink more water. Thanks for the reminder! 🙂
Great list. I have a gratitude tracker in my bujo and I try to be present when I solo parent at the weekend ❤️
Amazing tips. I never quite realised beforehand how important and life changing a morning routine can be in making you feel like you know what you are doing and on track.

I love this! All very useful 🙂
I love this! I’ve really been in a slump lately and definitely been feeling completely overwhelmed, so I love the idea of just setting three things and that’s enough with everything else being bonus. There are some great tips here, thanks for sharing!

I am drinking more water these days because of Diabetes and I am grateful for it too.
I definitely utilize a lot of these methods to stay positive. Great post!
Some great ideas here. I always struggle with remembering to drink water but I’m trying to improve – I think a habit tracker is probably a good idea for me. Thanks for sharing!
This is so helpful! I especially love the one about keeping your space tidy. It automatically makes me more productive.
People need a reminder of what it means to be present. It seems everyone just has their nose down on their phone these days. I hope your post gets them going in the right direction.
Thanks. Do you have a blog you can link?
This was a very helpful read, Lauren! I am still trying to settle on a morning routine, but setting tasks for the day has helped a lot! Also being more present and kind to the people around me are some of my goals for this year! Thanks for sharing x
