If you are wanting to improve your diet then there is nothing better than eating fish.
Fish has many benefits including helping to improve memory and delay the onset of conditions such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. If you are struggling to think of ways to eat fish and how to cook it then look no further.
Where are you going to get your fish from? This is a common question that many people ask at some point. If you don’t want to get it from your local supermarket then how about supporting local businesses? Take a look at the sustainable Cornish fishmonger fishforthought.co.uk. Take a look below for some yummy recipes.
Salmon With Pots & Veg
This is one of the simpler recipes and it can be ready in under 30 minutes. All you have to do is purchase a piece of salmon, garnish it with a few slices of lemon and a knob of butter, place it in the oven and cook it for around 15/20 minutes. You will know when it is cooked as it will change to a light baby pink colour and come away from the skin on the bottom.
While the salmon is cooking, you can prepare your veg and potatoes. New potatoes or baby potatoes go best with this dish, you can boil them or steam them. Also, decide which veg you want, mangetout or long-stem broccoli works best with salmon. These will take about the same time as the salmon to cook so you are not waiting around for anything. Here you have a quick, healthy, delicious dinner.
Grilled Tandoori Cod
If you are tired of the usual fish and chips on a Friday night then this cod recipe will change your life.
This recipe takes a bit longer as you need to leave the cod to marinate for around an hour. This must be done in the refrigerator, you can’t leave fish out on the side as it will go off. The best way to do this is to chop all your ingredients and place them in a big bowl or dish, add the chopped cod and cover to marinate.
Once the fish is well and truly marinated, take it out of the fridge and lay it out on a foil-covered tray. Make sure you brush this with oil before placing the fish on it, this will prevent any sticking to the tray. Cook it in a preheated oven for around 15 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking.
Niçoise Tuna Salad
Finally, if you want to prepare your own tuna, rather than getting it out of the tin then this is the perfect recipe to do this with. The key to this recipe tasting amazing is the quality of the tuna and how long you cook it. You need to invest in some top-quality tuna and grill it over high heat for around 4 minutes on each side.
As the fish doesn’t take long to cook, you can prepare everything before your start. You will need to cook your new potatoes if you are having them with your salad. These take about 15 minutes to boil or steam.
Once that has been cooked and everything is ready, dish it up and enjoy!
