AD. This is a collaborative post.
It’s no secret that relationships take work. Whether you’ve been together for one year or ten years, it’s important to always keep the spark alive.
This can also be true for long-distance relationships, as there is more effort needed on both parties to keep the relationship strong. One way to do that is by surprising your significant other with thoughtful gifts and gestures. This blog post will discuss 10 things you can do to surprise your significant other and make them feel loved and appreciated! Let’s get into the list:
1. Plan a weekend getaway – sometimes, the best surprises are spontaneous!
Book a hotel room, pack your bags, and whisk your partner away for a romantic weekend together.
If you’re on a budget, there are plenty of other ways to surprise your partner. Here are some ideas:
- Write them a love letter or poem
- Make them breakfast in bed
- Send them flowers at work
- Plan a picnic lunch in the park
- Take them dancing

2. Surprise them at work
This is a great way to make your partner feel loved and appreciated. Show up at their workplace with lunch or coffee, or just stop by to say hi. They’ll be sure to appreciate the gesture!
If you want to go the extra mile, you could:
- Write a heartfelt note and leave it on their desk
- Gourmet hampers
- Take them out for lunch
- Plan a special evening together
3. Leave them notes around the house
A simple but sweet way to surprise your partner is to leave them notes around the house. You could write a note and leave it in their car or hide a note in their lunchbox. They’ll be sure to smile when they find your thoughtful message!
Here are some ideas for what you could write:
- I love you
- I’m so grateful for you
- You’re my everything
- Thank you for being by my side
4. Arrange a treasure hunt
Plan a treasure hunt! This is a fun and creative way to surprise your partner! Hide clues around the house or in different locations, and have your partner follow the clues to find a special prize. This could be something small like their favourite candy or a love note or something bigger like tickets to a show or a piece of jewellery.
Here are some ideas for hiding places:
- Under the pillow
- In the freezer
- Inside a shoe
- In a coat pocket

Plan something adventurous. This is a great way to show your partner that you care about their interests and want to make them happy. Whether it’s going skydiving or taking a cooking class, doing something they’ve always wanted to do will be a surprise they’ll never forget!
6. Plan a date night

Great ideas. I always come back to date night. An evening with no distractions, good conversation, and a nice night out (there have been enough nights in over the last 2 years…). Thanks for sharing,
Definitely has been plenty of nights in. Thank you for reading and commenting.
Love this post, such lovely ideas! I did a treasure hunt thing with clues a few years ago for my partner and it was so much fun and also allowed me to get creative with coming up with clues. He’s not very romantic so he doesn’t really do much but I can notice the small acts he does do which are nice. I would love a surprise weekend getaway though haha!
Aww that’s a great idea and so thoughtful too! A surprise weekend getaway is definitely a great choice! I would love that too ha ha!
These were good ideas, the treasure hunt, I think I should take a note of that.

Many wonderful ideas: the picnic lunch, dancing and the notes around the house are my favorites. Date nights are always a nice romantic getaway too for some quiet and communication time. That post will be saved and sent to my bf 🤪
I hope you get to do these things together. Thank you for reading and commenting.
Great ideas. Date night needs the same time and attention as other important areas of our life. I think men should consider date night one of there hobbies. Romance is a key in continuing a happy and fun relationship.
I think both people that in the relationship play an equal part in making the other one feel special. Thank you for reading and commenting.
