Sushi is something I have discovered I enjoy over the past year. I love to try new foods and discover new flavours. As I don’t really like fish, I love having non fish sushi recipes, this is why I love the idea of making my own sushi.
I have never made my own sushi before, but we thought it would make a great activity one evening. So we used the make your own sushi kit from Kelly Loves and made our own delicious Kelly Loves sushi rolls. This kit is perfect to make sushi rolls as a beginner as it is easy to follow and comes with everything you need.
Kelly Choi has been sharing Korean and Japanese flavours for over 10 years. The founder of Sushi Daily (Europe’s leading sushi kiosks) Kelly has cultivated her favourite finds for the Kelly Loves range. The range has various snack and meals you can enjoy from the comfort of your home.
If you are new to sushi and these recipes you can take a short quiz on their website and they will provide you with hand picked products that you will love. Kelly Loves offers: Sushi making kits, Korean products including a variety box, instant miso soups and ramen dishes. There are so many products to choose from to spice up your weekly dinners.
The Ultimate Sushi Kit
This kit provides all the necessary ingredients and tools you need to create restaurant-worthy sushi tolls. All you need to do is add your own meat, vegetables or fish. The kit comes with:
- 1 x Bamboo rolling mat
- 1 x 500g Sushi rice
- 1 x 7 Nori sheets
- 1 x 150ml Sushi vinegar
- 1 x 285g Spicy mayo
- 1 x 150g Ginger
- 1 x 150g Crispy fried onions
- 1 x 87g Wasabi
- 1 x Bamboo lid Bento box
We decided to buy cucumber, red pepper, spring onion, avocado, chicken and duck to make our delicious sushi. The kit was really well presented and it was easy to follow and make, even as beginners.
Usually I am rubbish at cooking rice however, I followed the instructions completely (I am one that doesn’t always do that) and the rice came out perfectly. You then refrigerate it, so it is cool when you come to making the sushi rolls. We then sliced up our vegetables and cooked the duck and cut the chicken. Then we started making and rolling our yummy sushi. I definitely recommend not overfilling your sushi rolls!
It was so much fun practising making different rolls, trying different combinations and using the crispy onions and spicy mayo as a toppings. As I am not a fish fan I tried other meat combinations, but also tried plant-based sushi options.
Kelly Loves Kimchi
Kimchi is a traditional Korean staple. It is fermented cabbage mixed with red pepper, onions and garlic to create a delicious treat that can be enjoyed on its own, with rice or a noodle dish. The Kimchi is gluten free, palm oil free, low calorie and vegan.
I really enjoyed this, I am a cabbage lover anyway, but this was really tasty addition and even ate it on its own. I definitely recommend trying a sachet of this!
Kelly Loves Soy Sauce
Kelly Loves has a traditional and naturally brewed classic soy sauce for maximum flavour. The soy sauce was delicious and added great flavours to our sushi rolls. This sauce was definitely a hit with everyone.
Ramune is an authentic sparkling Japanese take on lemonade which is served in a traditional glass bottle giving the taste of true Japanese flavour. I really enjoyed the drink, it was so refreshing. You can also choose from Lychee Ramune and Yuzu Ramune. The Ramune drinks comes in the glass bottle with a small glass marble that keeps the Ramune fizzy for longer.
I loved this experience of making my own sushi and this sushi kit from Kelly Loves made it easy and hassle free. We had a fun sushi making party and were so full by the end of the evening. It is a great idea and suitable for many dietary requirements and you can make them exactly how you want them.
This make your own sushi kit is a great pick for anyone wanting to mix up their weekly meals or even make an ideal gift for a foodie in your life. The kits, snacks and meals are super affordable and there are delicious choices for everyone.
Have you made sushi before? Have you tried products from Kelly Loves? I’d love to hear in the comments.
Oooo well this is on my list to do on my week off. I love sushi but never eat it because it’s too expensive, we have no where close by and my husband hates it with a roaring passion. But if I could easily make it at home, it would mean I can actually eat it more often.
Honestly these kits are under £20 right now! Makes it super affordable. Definitely check them out. I hope you get to make some sushi soon! Thank you for reading and commenting.

I often forget that sushi doesn’t have to be all about fish. Which is good, because I hate fish. I’d be very tempted to try this as a vegetarian or other non-fish meat options. My partner loves sushi, so they’d be very happy to try this as well. How much do these sushi boxes cost?
