Happy National CBD Day! Cannabidiol or CBD is a chemical compound found in the cannabis sativa plant. When you apply it topically, inhale it or ingest edibles, CBD interacts with your neuroreceptors in your endocannabinoid system. This system sends signals between your cells to help regulate your movement, immune system, mood and homeostasis.
CBD research and studies are continuing to grow as CBD grows in popularity. There are some misconceptions about the use of CBD. For example, CBD is going to get you high; it is the Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) that is the main psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis that gives you the sensation of getting high. So, using CBD that is THC free, gives you the positive benefit without the high feeling, which allows you to be able to use the CBD anytime of the day. CBD can found in various products including: supplements, drinks, food and toiletry products.
It is important that you do you research on the products you want to purchase as low-quality CBD products are common on the market, so check that the brand is tested for its quality and purity. Here are a list of some positive benefits of using CBD regularly.
1. Manage chronic pain
Cannabis has been documented as being used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 1800 years. It was famously used by the pharmacologist and Emperor, Shen Nung. Cannabis is regarded as one of the fundamental herbs within the TCM system and used to treat a range of symptoms and disorders.
The endocannabinoid system is involved in regulating functions such as pain sensation. Your body produces neurotransmitters called endocannabinoids that bind to cannabinoid receptors. Research has shown that CBD may help reduce chronic pain by targeting endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing inflammation and interacting with your neurotransmitters.
For me, CBD is a helpful addition to reduce my pain especially when I am in a flare up of my Fibromyalgia symptoms. Since being diagnosed, I have used a variety of CBD oils, edibles and toiletries to help reduce my symptoms. Using CBD as art of my daily life has definitely reduced my chronic pain and aids any inflammation in my joints.
2. Reduces Anxiety and Depression
CBD oil has shown positive indicators as a treatment for some mental health conditions and many people who have mental health disorders have opted to try this natural treatment.
Multiple studies regarding CBD and mood disorders find that CBD properties can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. Even a small study carried out in 2009, discovered that CBD was effective in lowering PTSD-related symptoms as well as nightmares in adults.
CBD has interactions with several receptors known to regulate fear and anxiety-related behaviours. Other studies have shown that CBD reduces the behavioural symptoms of anxiety and physiological symptoms such as increased heart rate.
It is important that if you are taking anti-depressants that you discuss CBD with your doctor before you start taking it.
3. Manage your stress levels
As with anxiety, CBD acts on the endocannabinoid system, a neural network that is part of your central nervous system which impacts modulating cognitive and physiological functions. It can help to reduce your anxiety-related behaviours that cause you to be stressed.
CBD has been well-known to instil a sense of calm in people who have it which can lower your stress levels. By reducing the stress response and protecting against chronic stress, CBD can prevent or treat mental health symptoms related to stress.
4. Better sleep routine
With its anti-anxiety properties, people see improvements in their sleep. Things such as anxiety, depression and stress can negatively affect your sleep routine, so by reducing those symptoms, you are highly likely to improve your sleep.
Cannabidiol is actually a popular treatment for people with insomnia and promotes REM sleep to lower excessive daytime sleepiness.
CBD has been known to have so many physical and mental health benefits including:
- Reducing PTSD symptoms
- Reducing arthritic pain
- Alleviating ALS/MS symptoms
- Lowering tobacco cravings
- Improving heart health
- Improving skin health
- Easing of diabetic complications
As time goes on, more research and studies that take place, the more benefits that may surface.
Canax CBD gummies
Friends of 12 years Sophie and Jess co-founded Canax. With their personal experiences of CBD, they created a range of products that can fit into your busy life. They have a huge range of CBD gummies including:
- Hey Hormones CBD capsules
- Mellow Meno CBD capsules
- CBD gummies in a range of flavours
- Zero CBD gummies – sugar free
They also have other CBD products such as:
- The Sleep Bath bomb
- The PMS Bath Bomb
- The Skin Bath Bomb
I have been trying two of their different gummies for just over a month and I have noticed a difference in my pain during a flare up I had after a fall as well as in my sleep routine. Usually during the night, I find myself waking up, some nights it’s multiple times. However, since using the gummies regularly, my sleep has improved and some nights I am not waking up until morning, which helps my pain tolerance and fatigue from my Fibromyalgia.
Zero gummies
These are sugar-free daily CBD doses. Each gummy bear has 10mg of CBD and they have natural flavours of: cherry, apple, lemon and mango, without a horrible after taste. These zero gummies are not only sugar-free, but they are also vegan, palm oil free, gluten free and keto friendly, so they are suitable for everyone. This pack comes with 60 CBD gummies and you can take up to 5 per day.
Mummy gummies
These yummy gummies are in the shape of a strawberry and each one has 25mg of CBD. These gummies are vegan and palm oil free and available in sour apple as well as strawberry. There are 25 large gummies in each pack and you are able to take up to 3 per day.
I love these gummies because they not only taste delicious, but they are also so easy to take, easy to travel with and be on the go with. Some supplements can be a fuss or leave that horrible after taste, but with these gummies, they’re neither! It’s more like eating treats than taking supplements!
Their CBD gummies are made using natural ingredients (CBD sourced from Oregon, USA) and lab tests are carried out on every batch (the test results are available) and are made in the UK, in a certified facility.
Just a little reminder:
It is important that you check with your doctor that CBD is safe for you if you are on medications. CBD is considered to be generally safe, but it could cause reactions such as: diarrhoea, changes in your appetite and weight, fatigue and drowsiness. So starting on a low dosage is advisable.
Have you tried CBD gummies or CBD product before? I’d love to hear in the comments.
interesting
I’ve been taking CBD for anxiety for the past few years and I think it really helps. I usually use the oil because I find it works out cheaper than gummies, but I do keep some gummies in my bag for when I’m out and about because they are so much easier to travel with than the oil! I’ve never tried this brand of gummies before but they sound really good – I love that they are vegan and that there is a sugar-free option too. I’m glad they’ve been helping you with your pain and your sleep!
It is great you have had great benefits from taking CBD regularly. What oil do you use?
These are great benefits and I don’t consume a lot of these. I will keep these in mind to get them later. Thank you for sharing!

I’ve heard great things about these but can’t try them as I’m breastfeeding still.

Yesss! I love my CBD, I currently vape it but have in the past had sweeties infused with CBD and they’ve been amazing! I can’t recommend CBD more and it even helped my grandfather, to an extent, with terminal anxiety.
That’s great you were able to feel benefits and even your grandfather too! Thank you for reading and commenting.
We have used several different forms of CBD products in our life. It has helped my husband with his chronic pain issues for sure. It has helped me to sleep better at night.
It is good you have found it has helped your husband.
This was such an interesting post! I hadn’t actually heard of CBD before but my mum has fibromyalgia so I’ll definitely be passing this information on to her. I struggle a lot with anxiety and sleep so I might speak to my doctor about it too! Thank you so much for sharing x
