7 Reasons Why You Will Love Running A Blog

I enjoy blogging so much, I have been blogging since 2017 and I love it even more today! There have been statements made about how blogging is no longer popular or a profitable business, but that is simply not true.

Blogging is a powerful form of marketing and is only getting more popular. There is space for everyone to share their voice. Apart from the financial and business aspect of blogging, there are so many other reasons that you will fall in love with running a blog. Here are 7 reasons why you will love blogging:

1. You Learn And Develop Your Skills

There are some many skills gained by blogging. As a blogger, you will work on various types of platforms and have to wear several hats. You will be writing and creating content, marketing you blog and posts, growing your social media platforms, creating graphics and much more.

When you develop your blog, you learn more about the business aspect of running a blog and the marketing of your brand. This is something to be proud of because you have developed this all by yourself.

All of these skills that you develop are marketable and you can put them on your CV to gain an advantage on the job market. You may feel that you are not very good with multi-tasking; however, when running a blog, you are continuously multi-tasking and being productive with your time, learning skills such as: copywriting, SEO, marketing, photography and editing to name but a few.

2. It Gives You A Creative Outlet

Being creative is a powerful form of self-care to improve your mental health. Studies show that crafting and creative activities can be just as relaxing as meditation.

Blogging gives you a creative outlet with writing content, graphic designs, taking photographs for your social media platforms and creating your branding.  Your blob gives you the opportunity to express yourself and show your identity like a painter or a musician. You come up with different blog post ideas and find a way to write a useful post, which is both interesting and enjoyable to read. There are not any restrictions on how much content you can create and share which is perfect when you get a rush of creativity!

I have been looking back over my older posts and social media graphics; it is amazing to see my progress on taking photographs, editing them and writing my content.

3. Meet New People

The blogging community is a huge one which is very supportive. When you set up a blog, you will make lots of new friends as well as learn from each other’s experiences and knowledge. Blogging is a great venture to help you meet like-minded people. This is really great if you struggle to find people who are interested in the same things as you.

Not only can you make friends, it is also a great way to network with business contacts to then develop your own business. I have made so many lovely friends through setting up my blog, who are s supportive and will promote my content to others. Likewise, I have met some great business owners who I have been very fortunate to work with too.

4. Helping Others

When you put yourself out online and share your experience and advice, it is likely that you will be helping someone else. When people go to search online or click on a blog post, they are usually trying to find some information or something has made them click. So, when you have written a blog post and someone has shared that it has helped the, or they can relate to your post, it is both comforting and rewarding.

5. Blogging Gives You A Purpose

Blogging can be a powerful form of self-expression and can give you a sense of purpose especially if you are helping others. This can be really beneficial for your mental health. Since I have been diagnosed with a chronic illness, I lost my way as it completely turned my life upside down. Having my blog has given me more of a purpose especially when my readers are sharing how much it has helped them.

6. You Can Make Money

Blogging has become a very popular way to make money either as a successful side hustle or develop an influential online business. There are so many opportunities that blogging can give you to make money. Here are just a few of the ways that you can make money:

  • Monthly advertising packages
  • Affiliate sales
  • Sponsored posts
  • Link inserts

Blogging gives you the opportunity to connect with brand and PR contacts, where you can work n exciting campaigns and grow your business, which means more changes to make more money. If you are struggling to find work due to COVID for example, creating a blog and developing an online presence might be an option for you.

7. Builds Confidence And Self-Esteem

Do you know how much confidence blogging takes? You are outing yourself on the Internet every day and sharing your content. This takes bravery and will build your confidence. You are not only developing your writing skill, you are learning new ones. When you receive positive feedback from your audience, or a satisfied brand that you have collaborated with, makes you feel confident in your abilities to deliver good content. It will also improve your self-esteem because of that confidence, which motivates you to do more.

I was put off setting up my blog because I lacked confidence. I thought that no one was going to want to read my blog and I definitely didn’t think brands would want to collaborate with me. I couldn’t have been more wrong!

So, if you are thinking about starting a blog, just go for it! You will love running a blog and learn about yourself in the process as well as learn a whole lot of new skills.

I read Jay’s the other day and, between the two of you, you’ve managed to highlight several reasons why I love blogging and the community in general, too. The creative outlet one is one that I especially agree with, and why I decided to blog in the first place. I love meeting new people, too; I’ve met more people through blogging than I ever had in real life! It’s crazy the amount of people you can connect through just by blogging.

    Couldn’t agree more with your list! I definitely didn’t need an excuse to buy more stationery, but I’ll use blogging as one anyway. I think that, and the creative side, are my top two, but the other things are wonderful as well.

    Yes, yes, yes, I agree with all of these! When I started blogging, I had no idea what a lovely supportive community I was joining, nor what a fascinating range of blogs I’d end up reading. Blogging is so creative and some of the opportunities I’ve had since I started have just been amazing.
