What do you want from your blog? Do you want it to grow? If you are looking to build your blog and your audience having a blogging schedule is vital in achieving that. Having a blogging schedule allows you to stay organised and plan your content ahead of time, this leaves you with time to promote those killer posts you have written and to engage with your audience, these steps are also important to build a successful blog.
If you have set up and post on your blog as a way of journaling or to enjoy the hobby of writing then you can share those posts at the times you wish and you should not concern yourself with a blogging schedule. However, if you are reading this post and you are looking to take your love of writing to the next level, a blogging schedule can help you become that little bit more organised and professional.
I have shared 5 things that you should consider when you are looking to implement an effective blogging schedule.
1. Decide how many posts you would like to share
Your blogging schedule needs to include how many posts you want to share, how many posts per week or month depending on your other commitments, When you are considering the amount you want to post it is important you choose a number that is going to be achievable. If you choose to post multiple times a week and find it difficult to commit, you will be left feeling frustrated and overwhelmed, you do not want your blog to feel more like a chore than an enjoyable experience. You can always increase the amount you post, but you should start with the amount you know you can accomplish in the time you have.
2. Decide what day/s and time/s you would like your posts to go live
When you have decided on the amount of posts per week/month you are wanting to show, you need to allocate a specific day and time for the posts to be shared with your audience. When you are allocating those days make sure you will also have the time to promote that blog post and engage with your audience. Keeping the same day and time you post means you blog will be consistent for your audience and help with your DA score. By having a consistent schedule you will be more organised and this is where you will be able to plan ahead with your blog content and you will be able to manage your time better for all areas of your life too.

3. Blog promotion on your social media platforms
In your schedule you need to plan when you will be taking the time to promote that awesome content you have written. Writing the blog posts is the easiest part, you have to really graft and spread the word to bring the readers to your blog posts, Some of your upcoming readers may not even know your blog exists yet. There are 7 successful methods to promote your blog posts effectively.
4. Write down your blog schedule for reference
Once you have created the schedule that your feel is going to work for you, I definitely recommend you write it down. Writing something down makes you more accountable! This will help you post more consistently on your blog and therefore your posts will gain traction and your posts are likely to be more successful. When you have written down your schedule it can also help you plan your blog content ahead of time, which is super helpful in staying organised.
5. Evaluate and measure
After you have had the schedule in place for a while, it is important that you evaluate how it is going and if you find that certain aspects need to be altering that is the time to do it. For the evaluating and measuring stage you can check into your insights and analytics to see if you are maximising the busiest days and times on your blog for your audience.
These are simple steps that you can follow to create that blogging schedule that is right for you. When I started blogging I didn’t have a schedule, thank goodness I quickly realised how much can change when you have that schedule in place. If you do not have a schedule I definitely recommend putting one in place.
